IPFW Teacher Workshop, June 11-22

 

Course Summary

The 21st century has witnessed an explosion of Internet-based innovations for teaching, communicating, learning and expanding classroom connections. To take advantage of them, today's teachers need a wide variety of technology skills. This workshop provides an overview of emerging Internet-based tools and ways that teachers can leverage them to engage students, create an active learning environment, and increase student learning.

Topics include:

•Blogs

•Wikis

•RSS Feeds

•YouTube

•Commercial Web Pages

•google

•Flickr

•SurveyMonkey

Participants will gain hands-on experience working with readily available and free tools. Participants should have basic skills in browsing the Internet and using desktop software applications, a desire to enhance their teaching with technology, and a sense of adventure for exploring new technologies. Applications will not be platform-specific and the workshop will be taught in a computer lab.
